Undead Unluck is by far my pick for most anticipated one. I absolutely adore the manga, one of the most fun shonen I've read in a while, and it's getting an adaptation by Yuki Yase and a good chunk of the Fire Force staff, with great people like Kazuhiro Miwa and Shunichi Ishimoto involved as well! The first few episodes will definetily put some people off, but I think anyone that decides to stick with it is in for a great treat.

Outside of it, Frieren and Pluto are runner-ups for me. Haven't read either of them, but the level of praise they get is enough to keep me very interested. Though in the case of Frieren in particular, I'm more attracted to it purely due to staff names more than anything else.

Fall 2023 is looking like a loaded season for me, and my most anticipated show is the second season of The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent. It is a low key show, but I like the premise and main characters.

I will definitely be watching:
After-school Hanako-kun
I’m in Love with the Villainess
The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent S2
Tearmoon Empire
Yuzaki-san Chi no Yon Kyoudai

I would also like to see Kibou no Chikara: Otona Pretty Cure 23 but I’m not sure if I would have to see the original first.

You know I've been on ANN for a long time and I never thought I'd see the day when a show like 100 Girlfriends was highly anticipated Laughing

Instead I'm the one who now has a distaste for those kinds of shows. Back in my day a "harem anime" meant a dude chased by several girls but he's expected to pick only one in the end. Nowadays a harem is truly a harem. My moral and practical issues with polygamy aside (if it works for you more blessings to ya), it feels like a cop out from a writer's perspective. The guy (and the author by extension) doesn't have to make a difficult choice, doesn't have to sacrifice anything, and gets everything he wants while the girls are forced to share. I find it worse than those endings where he doesn't pick anyone.

To 100 Girlfriends' credit it's upfront with its premise and relishes in it. But when it comes to "girl of the week" stories I'll stick with The World God Only Knows.

As for my most anticipated I'll go with Berserk of Gluttony. Now there's a show about a man loyal to a single waifu. It's got its edge lord moments but Fate is loving towards his friends and ruthless towards his enemies. Most other fantasy protags these days are either all loving or all brooding.

The upcoming season is an insanely-loaded one for me; in fact, I cannot remember a season which had so many titles that I could put on a "Most Anticipated" list as this one.

Among new titles, I could easily go with Frieren as the obvious choice, but I've also come to dearly love The Apothecary Diaries through its manga version (and the previews look great!) and I've much enjoyed Berserk of Gluttony in novel form.

Among returning series, I could name Spy x Family, Goblin Slayer, The Rising of the Shield Hero, The Eminence in Shadow, The Ancient Magus' Bride, The Faraway Paladin, and, to a lesser extent, Dead Mount Death Play.

And all of this is without considering a slew of titles that I have second-tier interest in.

Yeesh. Looks like my extra time is going to be more limited this fall. . .

As long time novel reader, The Apothecary Diaries is number one with a bullet. Hopefully the anime finally helps it get the audience it deserves outside of Japan. (Where the series sales have crossed the 24 million mark.)

Out of the New shows: SHY, Undead Unlock, Apothecary diaries, and 4 Knights of the apocalypse. I hope the productions for SHY and 4 knights holds up. Especially the latter, considering how bad the animation in SDS got by the end.

The list of returning shows i'm watching is long but my most anticipated are Ancient Magus bride, Spy family, and Shield hero

For me it's Frieren, Apothecary Diaries and Stardust Telepath. We'll see about the other shows: I haven't watched anything this summer other than the latest Princess Principal movie.

Upcoming season is crazy loaded with a lot of unknown anime quality wise that sound interesting, there are also plenty of known qualities with several highly anticipated new seasons. A few I will surely watch are: Uma Musume, Goblin Slayer, Spy x Family, The Eminence, Kanojo mo Kanojo, Seijo no Maryoku, Shangri-La Frontier and Arknights.

I'm lazy, and there is too much titles.

Among new titles, I will watch Frieren, The Apothecary Diaries and obviously Pluto.

Among returning series, I will continue Spy x Family, Goblin Slayer, The Ancient Magus' Bride, The Faraway Paladin and maybe The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent or The Rising of the Shield Hero but i probably won't have enough time.

One word: PLUTO. Not only is my most anticipated series of the season. It's pretty much my most anticipated series ever. October the 25th can't come soon enough... Laughing

Props to James Beckett for the Castlevania: Nocturne shoutout, I'm also looking forward to it. My most anticipated show is also not Japanese: Heaven Official's Blessing Season 2. Hope the animation is as gorgeous as s1, and I look forward to seeing how Deng Youxi, the new Chinese VA for Xie Lian, brings life to the character. He has some big shoes to fill since Guangtao Jiang was excellent in s1.

On the Japanese side of things, The Faraway Paladin 2nd Season, Dr. Stone: New World - Part II, The Apothecary Diaries, My New Boss is Goofy, and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End are just a few of the ones I'm looking forward to.

I typically try to follow 4-5 series a season. Thats going to be difficult this time. There are at least 4 continuing series I know I'm going to want to watch- Goblin Slayer, Faraway Paladin, Saint's Magic Power, Dead Mount Death Play- without even getting into the new shows. Of which there are a few. Unsure how many- it will depend on who gets streaming rights to what.

From relative famine to over-indulgent feast, I suppose.

Not counting sequels and continuing shows, I'm most excited for Apothecary Diaries, 100 girlfriends, Undead Unluck, PLUTO and Frieren, source material are strong for those ones and anime adaptations looking promising , not to mention almost all of them should be 2-cours! Also curious about Ragna Crimson ,SHY and ShangriLa, heard some good things, plus there may be more shows to pick after season unfold fully.

Nowadays "harem anime" still mostly ends with "pick one girl out of palette of others", even if we take fanstasy and isekai settings, plenty of times it doesn't transform into a true harem and girls are just there, not doing anything interesting in the end. I don't fully buy the "cop out" argument, because even in classic harem majority of girls will be disregarded with no interesting narrative conclusion after eating a lot of screen time, ending with predictable pick that doesn't transform into compelling choice and sacrifice, basically other brand of dull writing. After all, it everything down to execution, not the concept itself.

Hence why there is a lot of excitement for 100 Girlfriends, it is an example of undertaking juggernaut writing and logistical task compared to majority of harems and against all odds, succeeding. It's legit my favorite execution of true harem concept in the entire medium while also being a romantic successor of Gintama or Bobobo-bo in Reiwa era, reveling in meta-comedy and universe weirdness. It's not a "girl of the week" story like TWGOK, since gradually introduced girls are legit main characters that aren't discarded, constantly around and interact with each other in endless combinations, forming various dynamics and situations to carry manga forwards. Not to mention absolute gem that is male MC Rentarou, ultimate boyfriend and monster of love that shine brighter then even the girls, making whole manga work and invalidating your initial argument about MC in polyamory harem. As I said before, right execution makes even the most craziest concepts work.

So much to look forward to this season!

For Me

Goblin Slayer
100 Girlfriends ( Go out of your way to see it, and if you think “There’s no way they will get to 100,” they just introduced Girlfriend #26 in the latest chapter, Nakamura and Nozawa are committed to getting there.)
Shy
Shangri-La Frontier
Freiren
Spy Family
Firefighter Daigo (I’m a First Responder myself so I appreciate the representation)
Eminence in Shadow
Deranged Detective
Dead Mount Death Play
Dark Gathering 2nd cour

Among a few others
