Anime Creators to Take Part in Roppongi Based Lecture on Photography and Science
posted on by Chris Nishijima
Progress can only be reached in this world when people decide to look into the future and bring what they see back to the present day. Innovation can only be grasped when humanity tries to make that which seems impossible real. That is one of the the main ideas behind "Photography and Science -Expanding Perceptions Visual Expression-" a photography gallery and lecture series which will be hosted at the IMA CONCEPT STORE in Roppongi.
From the microscope to the telescope, from the inner workings of the human brain to the arrangement of the cosmos, this gallery is devoted to capturing the image of the scientific world. In addition to the photo gallery itself, visitors to the exhibit can purchase tickets to listen to lectures in the event, put on by individuals and visionaries such as anime directors Masaaki Yuasa (The Tatami Galaxy and Ping Pong) and Kōji Morimoto (The Animaxtrix and the music video for Utada Hikaru's "Passion), and inventors such as Naotaka Fujii, one of the creators behind the "Sexual Harassment Interface" for the SR virtual reality system. They will be providing lectures on items such as how science can be used to augment our perception and cause reality and fiction to collide.
Also scheduled to be in attendance and taking part in the exhibit is Takagi Masakatsu, the composer for Wolf Children, as well as Takashi Yamaguchi, member of the award winning motion graphic art group "d.v.d" known for collaborations with singer Etsuko Yakushimaru.
The exhibit is scheduled to take place from October 13 to November 6. Admission to the lectures can be purchased either per event for 2,700 yen (about US $24.68) or as a full admission ticket to all four lecture sessions for 9,180 yen (about US $83.92).
