posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Steve Jobs was an enigmatic and controversial figure. His personality and work ethic were the subject of 2015's Steve Jobs film starring Michael Fassbender. His relationship with PC revolutionary Steve Wozniak is also in the film, and the focus of the manga Steves by Tokyo Toybox manga team UME.
UME launched their biographical manga in Big Comic Superior in 2014 and recently wrapped the manga after six volumes. The French television program toco toco caught up with UME, comprised of writer Takahiro Ozawa and artist Asako Seo. The couple takes the crew to Akihabara, the setting of the Tokyo Toybox manga, and the retro shopping street Yanaka Ginza. In the video, UME talks about their inspirations and relationship with technology.
A successful crowdfunding campaign to translate Steves into English is still running on the platform Faavo. The campaign has raised 1,554,000 yen (US$13,616) with 15 days still remaining. The goal was 1,000,000 yen (US$8,762). UME is working with Tokyo Otaku Mode to translate the series.
The toco toco program has previously interviewed Silent Hill video game series director Keiichirō Toyama, Guilty Gear video game series director Daisuke Ishiwatari, game creator Suda51, Ghost in the Shell composer Kenji Kawai, Space Brothers creator Chūya Koyama, veteran animator Manabu Oohashi, "Tentacle Master" Toshio Maeda, and more.
