Manga artist Sho Kōnotori's comic Medaka-kun, Sayonara. (Goodbye, Medaka-kun.), which is being serialized on Kadokawa's web manga site Young Ace Up, has just had its first printed manga volume released on April 4.
Young Ace Up gives the following description of the manga:
Because we're alive, we eat. A fish anthropomorphism comedy!
Various creatures are living together in a home aquarium. One creature thrown in, a Medaka (a Japanese ricefish) confronts the harsh law of survival of the fittest! A slow and surreal "struggle for existence" comedy unfolds inside a fish tank. Live on, you live on as well!
Characters include a Yamato shrimp, who is overflowing with chivalrous spirit but also eats feces, and the pond snails that teach at the aquarium's Catholic school for snails.
Medaka-kun, Sayonara. launched on Young Ace Up in July 2016 and can be read in its entirety on the Young Ace Up website or the manga website Pinga (Japanese only). The series is currently ongoing.
The manga volume is available on Amazon JP and is retailing for 626 yen (about USD $5.70).
Hiroaki Aoi's Shibuya Kingyo is about an entirely different kind of pet fish. Specifically, the super-sized kind with a taste for human flesh.
