Mamoru Oshii Plays Fallout 4, Makes His Fan Newsletter Late
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official Twitter account for Mamoru Oshii's "Anger Half the World" newsletter revealed on Sunday that the 110th issue will be late due to the director playing Fallout 4. Oshii apparently said in messages to the newsletter's editorial department, "It's all my responsibility. I'm caught up in Fallout 4, so I ended up forgetting to send [the manuscript] and going home. Forgive me."

It appears that Oshii completed the manuscript but intended to look over it once more before sending it in. He then left for Atami, Shizuoka. Because he will not be back in Tokyo until Saturday, the next newsletter is delayed until May 6 or later. The newsletter was supposed to be released on May 1.
Bethesda Softworks released the post-apocalyptic nuclear disaster game Fallout 4 in 2015. Fans of Oshii's work may find it no surprise that a director with his oeuvre could become engrossed in a game depicting a dark future reliant on advanced technology. Oshii has directed anime such as Patlabor, Ghost in the Shell, and Sky Crawlers.
Oshii offers his thoughts and feelings about various topics and shares unreleased materials in the newsletter. He writes content in the biweekly newsletter that he "can't write in a magazine."
The director attended the 44th Annual Annie Awards in February to receive the Winsor McCay Award for career contributions to the art of animation.
