Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Fan Meme Gets CAPCOM's Official Acknowledgment

It all started on September 12 when a Japanese Twitter user posted a photoshopped image of the Rajang monster from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne doing a thumbs up. The caption reads "Ii jan" (nice), which sounds similar to "Rajang."

At the "Monster Hunter Festa '19-'20" event in Tokyo on Sunday, CAPCOM made the meme official. Official images of Rajang doing the thumbs up were revealed, and fans are encouraged to use them on social media. The event also unveiled images of the Pearlspring Macaque doing a thumbs up.
The topic was introduced when Monster Hunter World producer Ryozo Fujimoto was asked, "What do you think of the event so far?" to which he responded, "Ii jan!" He said that he really wanted to make the fan image official, and when he showed it to a designer, they were really surprised but did what they were told anyway. The designer made multiple images and asked, "Which one should we use?" Fujimoto responded, "We may as well use them all."
The staff announced at both the event and on Twitter on Tuesday that the images will be released on Monster Hunter World's official website and Twitter account in the coming days.

Rajang was first added to the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion in October. The expansion launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, and will release for PC via Steam on January 9. Monster Hunter World launched worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2018.
At the event, CAPCOM also announced details about the second major free update for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, which will launch on December 5.
