Asahi Production Makes Promotional Anime For City in Yamaguchi Prefecture
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Animation studio Asahi Production and the city of Mine in Yamaguchi Prefecture produced a short anime video earlier this month to promote the town.
The "Mine Kurashi no Sketch ~Yutaka na Shizen to Atatakai Jikan~" (A Sketch of Living in Mine ~Abundant Nature and Warm Days~) short uses live-action footage of the city to introduce it as a "quiet town that has few disasters like earthquakes that is perfect for peacefully raising children."
The anime portion of the video follows a family where the father's hometown is Mine. He decides to move his family back to his hometown so his daughter (who is also named Mine) can grow up surrounded by nature. Mine visits the city's famous sites such as the karst landscape of the Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park, and the Akiyoshido cave and its 15-meter tall "Gold Column" stalactite. The family's father and mother also grow Nashi pears (also known as Asian pears).
Mine, who is now 18 years old after having moved to Mine city when she was 10, worries about what to do with her future. Mine revisits the Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park, saying it's her favorite spot that she loves, and makes a decision: she wants to find work in this city that is so much like herself.
