I'm not into torture porn, but Higan's transition from the rage-filled, skin-'em-alive psycho he was in the first couple of episodes to savior of the world good guy was way too quick. He should have kept being the vicious dispatcher of ninja barely contained on Mike's leash until Emma revealed her connection to Mari and humanized him again (presumably done a bit more elegantly than I just described). What we got was a quick tamping of raging revenger to smoldering pouty guy over a couple of episodes.

After watching to the bullshit end, I now see why they insisted on calling it Ninja KuhMOOee.

It occurs to me that almost nobody much cares anymore whether they wrap with a satisfying ending or break a leg at the finish line. If they manage to keep you watching until they stagger across the broken tape in last place, they did their job and got paid, and that's good enough for anime work.

My opinion on this seems to be the same as everyone else's: A plenty fine, but probably not that memorable show. Strong start, so-so finish.

Getting baited with great 2D hand drawn action and then switched for awkward 3D robo suit combat was a huge let down. If we still had the former, I think I'd probably be more forgiving of the show overall. The Mazinger Z spikes on the main suits were cool, but the 3D fights felt lacking even by my already low expectations for such things. Nevermind being spoiled this year by Metallic Rouge surprisingly having excellent hand drawn mechanical suits.

Some good characters and character moments, at least.

The series reminded me or Urobuchi's Revenger sometimes considering how brutal are women's deaths and how they keep exploiting them in flashbacks kinda like that old Tekken liveaction film.
