Insurance doesn’t typically cover home health aides, which is what the campaign is fundraising for.

This is awful, awful news, though it's great to see that donations are more than double what the goal was.

I paid $5 yesterday plus the added tax. Now, if prayers and happy thoughts can also do their stuff.

I was just rewatching Slayers Next too. This is hitting me too close! I'm gonna donate the instant I get paid on Friday.

Don't know; she hasn't acted for a few years and, as we know, most anime gigs aren't union and don't give actors credits toward health care or any of that.

But even if you do have insurance, there are things it doesn't cover. In 2012, I was in a nasty car crash. I had great insurance (and short-term disability coverage for my missed work) and it picked up most of the bill for lifesaving surgeries and my hospital stay and rehab and outpatient PT and all of that but at the end of the day I still had to fork over some $5,000 in co-pays and such.

The one positive thing about this is the sheer amount of support Rachel Lillis has seen from her voice acting peers. It seems like every VA out there is sounding the call and raising awareness for her. Goes to show how much she's touched people's lives--beyond just voice acting, but by just being a decent person.

Here's hoping she gets all the help and love she needs, and then some.

I know everyone's bringing up her work on Pokemon, but the role I'll always associate her with was Utena Tenjo.

Hoping for a full recovery and glad the donations were surpassed. Cancer is something I wouldn't wish on anybody and it's ridiculous that it's 2024 and we STILL don't have a cure.

The Pokemon Company didn't even jump in when the current voice of James retired due to cancer and set up his donation drive.

This is terrible. My heart aches for her, she’s still so young. I’m happy to see the goal has been surpassed so I hope they get her out of that nursing home quickly so she can rest. Her voice is one of my favorites in anime. I love her as Utena.

They could but they replaced her decades ago due to money and I recall she had some choice words at the time since she received no advance notice (nor the rest of the 4kids cast). They're probably not on the best of terms.

Another voice actor that is being taken away from us because of cancer. I'm tired of that disease. With all this technology and we can't get rid of it, without bankrupting people?

I hope she survives and has a quick recovery.
