Motorcycle Girls Rev Their Engines in New Manga — Literally
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
While manga like Bakuon!! focuses on girls enjoying the thrill of a motorcycle ride, Hideyoshi Suzuki's Bike Gijinka Kinsho (Bike Personification Germ Book) has more in common with DLE's Henkei Shōjo project. The motorcycle personification manga focuses on actual motorcycles anthropomorphized as girls.
The four-panel gag comedy series' first installment stars a GSX400S Katana. The proud motorcycle claims to be a GSX1100S Katana when a potential new owner appears. However, he recognizes her as the GSX400S Katana that she is and reveals that she is just what he is looking for. However, the GSX400S Katana remains apprehensive.
The GSX1100S is a large motorcycle released in 1980, and the GSX400S is a mid-sized model that debuted in 1992. The latter model mimics the style of GSX1100S and was released in response to the popularity of the former motorcycle.
Monthly Autoby magazine's Autoby & RIDE website began publishing Suzuki's manga on Tuesday. The fifth installment, which centers on a GSX1300R Hayabusa, debuted on Friday. Suzuki, who refers to himself as a "Suzukin Kanja" (スズ菌患者; a person infected with a figurative Suzuki-vehicle bug), previously posted the manga irregularly on his Twitter account.
Can't get enough of "things as girls?" While Kantai Collection may be the most well-known, Japan has turned prefectures, fish, model tools, and sake into cute girls, just to name a few.
